Movement Science Module

Movement Science modules explore yoga practice through the lens of modern movement science and biomechanics.
Yoga teachers often work with students of different physical backgrounds, body structures, and movement histories. Understanding how the body adapts to movement and load allows teachers to guide practice in a safer and more effective way.
In these modules, students learn how joints move, how muscles coordinate movement, and how connective tissues respond to training over time. Concepts such as motor control, strength development, and tissue adaptation help teachers understand why certain practices work for some bodies and not for others.
Students are also introduced to ways of interpreting research related to movement and exercise science. This encourages teachers to think critically about common yoga myths and develop a more evidence-informed approach to teaching.
Through this field of study, yoga practice becomes not only an art but also a thoughtful exploration of how the human body learns, adapts, and evolves.
