Learning Pathway

A Flexible Approach to Yoga Education
The School of YogaSutra follows a modular learning system designed to support gradual and meaningful development in yoga practice and teaching.

Rather than completing a single intensive teacher training, students build their education step by step through a series of modules, specialized trainings, and mentorship opportunities.

This structure allows students to study at a sustainable pace while integrating what they learn into their personal practice and teaching experience.

Each module contributes training hours toward the YogaSutra teacher certification pathway.
Start Your Journey Anywhere
Students may begin their studies with any module that interests them.

Some students begin with foundational studies such as anatomy or philosophy. Others may start with a specialized training led by guest teachers.

Every program completed within the School of YogaSutra becomes part of the student’s learning record.

Over time, these modules accumulate to form a complete education in yoga practice and teaching.

Progressive Certificate Pathways

The modular structure of the School of YogaSutra allows students to progress through different stages of study. Rather than focusing only on a single teacher training milestone, students can develop their knowledge gradually while receiving recognition for each stage of learning.

Each certification reflects a deeper level of study and integration of practice, knowledge, and teaching skills.
Foundation Certificate — 50 Hours
The Foundation Certificate recognises the completion of introductory modules in yoga practice, movement understanding, and basic theoretical knowledge.

This level is suitable for students who wish to deepen their personal practice and gain a stronger understanding of how yoga works without necessarily intending to teach.

Students who complete this stage often continue their studies with additional modules that expand their knowledge of anatomy, philosophy, and teaching skills.
Continuing Education Certificate — 100 Hours
The Continuing Education Certificate reflects a deeper engagement with yoga study.

At this stage, students will have explored several areas of practice and theory, including movement principles, breath and awareness practices, or specialized areas of interest within yoga.

This level is often chosen by experienced practitioners or existing yoga teachers who wish to expand their professional knowledge through focused continuing education.
YogaSutra Teacher Certification — 200 Hours
The YogaSutra Teacher Certification represents the completion of the school’s foundational teacher training pathway.

Students who wish to become certified yoga teachers can follow the YogaSutra 200-hour teacher training pathway, designed to develop a balanced understanding of yoga practice, movement science, teaching skills, and philosophical foundations.

The certification is completed through two main components: Core Modules and Elective Modules.
Graduates of this pathway may qualify to register with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200).

Core Modules — 130 Hours
Core modules provide the essential knowledge required for responsible yoga teaching. These studies establish a strong foundation in practice, anatomy, teaching methodology, and philosophical understanding.
Core modules include:
• Foundations of Yoga Practice
• Functional Anatomy for Yoga
• Teaching Methodology
• Sequencing Principles
• Yoga Philosophy and Ethics
• Teaching Practicum
Together, these modules develop the fundamental skills needed to guide safe, intelligent, and thoughtful yoga classes.
Students learn how to understand the body in movement, communicate clearly with students, structure effective classes, and teach with ethical awareness and responsibility.

Elective Modules — 70 Hours
Elective modules allow students to expand their studies according to their interests and professional goals.
Students may explore several areas of specialization, including movement science, therapeutic yoga applications, teaching skill development, nervous system and breath practices, and deeper philosophical studies.

This flexible structure allows each student to tailor their education while still developing a well-rounded understanding of yoga practice and teaching.

Through this modular approach, students gain both foundational knowledge and the opportunity to explore areas that resonate with their personal teaching path.
Advanced Practitioner — 300 Hours
The 300-hour level represents an advanced stage of study for students who wish to continue developing their practice and teaching beyond the foundational level.

At this stage, students explore more specialised subjects in movement science, therapeutic applications, teaching refinement, and deeper philosophical study.

This pathway is designed for teachers who wish to expand their knowledge and refine their teaching methodology through continued education.
Movement Educator Diploma — 500 Hours
The Movement Educator Diploma represents an extensive course of study in yoga, movement science, and teaching development.

Students completing this level will have engaged in long-term study across multiple disciplines, including biomechanics, therapeutic yoga applications, breath and nervous system regulation, and advanced teaching practice.

This diploma recognises teachers who have developed a broad and integrated understanding of yoga as both a movement discipline and an educational practice.
A Lifelong Learning Journey
These progressive certifications reflect the philosophy of the School of YogaSutra: meaningful learning unfolds over time.

Students may choose to study for personal development, professional certification, or long-term mastery. Each stage of the pathway offers an opportunity to deepen understanding, refine practice, and continue the exploration of yoga as a lifelong discipline.
Movement Educator Diploma — 500 Hours
Completing the 200-hour certification is only the beginning of the learning journey.

The School of YogaSutra is designed as a place where teachers and practitioners can continue studying for many years.

Students may return to explore advanced modules, specialized workshops, and guest teacher trainings that deepen their knowledge and expand their teaching skills.

Yoga education is not a single milestone—it is an ongoing process of study, practice, and reflection.
